You can make your on beer.

I bought a bread machine to make my own bread. Made 2
loaves and haven't used it since. Machine and ingredients
cost me over $75.

That's an expensive couple of loafs.

The pain-in-ass/reward ration is way out of kilter.

Some things are just not worth the trouble of making
yourself.

Bread and beer are two of them.

I don't drink beer, but I remember friends making it years
ago. Yeah, it seemed like a PITA. But then, I don't like
beer so the final product held no interest for me.

But I make ALL of my own bread. The store-bought stuff isn't
worth buying. I do most of my bread by hand; kneading bread
dough is a wonderful way to get an upper body workout while
venting frustrations. I also have a bread machine I paid
$25+tax for new. I use that mostly in the summer months or
if I'm in going to be too busy to supervise a blob of dough
through the by-hand steps and baking.

In other words, yeah, it's worth it to bake your own bread.
If you're trying to bake bread at home and still think the
store-bought stuff is better/worth the money/a better use
of time then you ain't doing it right.

Nyssa, who will leave the beer to those who actually like
it, but will keep on baking her own bread
