The Drake R-8a that I inherited has a zillion presets. One group was programmed for 5000, 10000, 15000, 3330, 7335, 14670, and 11092.5USB(!). The first three were probably for WWVH, and I just never got around to changing the others.

3330, 7335 and 14670 are CHU, a radio station in Canada that broadcasts
time of day information sort of like WWV. CHU transmits on 3330 kHz,
7335 kHz, and 14670 kHz using AM compatible upper single sideband with
carrier re-inserted modulation.

So, when I went to check my atomic clock, I happened to scroll past the other frequencies, and I heard a very weak signal on 11092.5USB at about 0100 GMT. I thought I could hear a male voice say “Tony Lee” followed by music that sounded like part of “My Country ‘Tis of Thee”.

What was it?

What was it? Now there is the $64,000 question, could be anything,
possibly sounds like a bootlegger.

How do you like the R-8? I'm a big Drake fan, still have the 4B line,
transmitter and receiver.
