Ahh, good old SWLing!! My memories don't go back that far, but I have a
cherished collection of cards, newspapers, pennants, etc. Even a newspaper
"Moscow Independant" from before the fall of the iron curtain.... Good
luck, I hope you find somewhere suitable - it'd be a shame to lose all that
wonderful stuff. Being in Australia I can't help with any suggestions as to
who may take it, other than possibly the ARRL?? www.arrl.org

Cheers

When I was young, in about 1965, my father got stationed in alaska and
at the
same time I was given an old hellicrafters swl radio. Being in alaska,
we
were very close to europe and I received SWL cards from most of the
countries
that were there. I threw them all into a box and after looking at them
just
recently, a lot of the countries don't even exsist anymore. I also was
sent
a large package from the former soviet union (radio moscow) with
pictures of
their country and trying to tell me how great their country was. I
probably
got this because my dad was in the Air Force and they noticed the Air
Force
Base Return address. Of course he was really mad when we got this
propaganda
package but he let me keep it.

My question is: where is the best place to DONATE all the SWL cards
and flags
and pennants that I got thru the mail way back then? I will not use
them but
I hate to see them go to waste. I know there must be some really good
place
that would want them and at the same time other people might have
access to
them. If anybody knows a site that is really good at taking care of
the items
and making sure they can be seen by others, please forward me an email
so I
can get in contact with them. I can remember staying up many late
nights waiting for some of these small stations to go off the air so I
can find out
their addresses and send them requests for SWL cards. Most of the
time, I always got a response. But sometimes it took a couple letters
to get them to
send the cards.

My email address is: and any information would
be very
much appreciated........ TED
