Right now, the website says Illinois has 353 power failures out of 5.4 million customers. Mississippi has 953 power failures with just over 1 million customers.

Nearly everybody in both states are getting their power right now and I don't see much significance in these numbers.

Sure, I can lose power because of lightning strikes but it comes back in a few seconds or minutes. The clock on my microwave oven drops out. I haven't had a power failure of over an hour for a few years.

I think we get even fewer of these glitches at work.

ComEd installed +ACI-smart meters+ACI for their customers. These meters report back power use and power failures by radio. No more meter readers and ComEd knows about power failures immediately, often before I do. I know it's doing SOMETHING, because it's another damned RFI source. Sheesh.
