RST Engineering (and owner Jim Weir, WX6RST) have developed an online ham
radio "teach yourself" course using materials that are free for download
from the 'net. The class is intended to take a person from zero knowledge
to the point where they can pass the FCC exam(s) for their particular
license class in 30 days.

The course officially starts on 26 January 2005 and I am scheduling exams
for Saturday 26 February 2005 in both the Rocklin (Sacramento CA) area and
Grass Valley CA area. The VEC will be GLAARG, which charges $4 for as many
individual exams as the person wants to take at a single sitting (re-exams
are an additional $4).
You can take the course anywhere in the USA you wish if you want to use an
exam facility in your own neck of the woods, no problem.
The last time I Elmered this exact set of study aids through the college I
had one whizbang geek go from zero knowledge of ham radio to Extra within
the summer school term, 8 4 hour sessions. I'd like to do that again.
Please pass on this information to your club, your school, anybody you think
might benefit from it. Again, other than the exam fee and any study books
the student feels that they need (no, we are NOT selling books), this course
is absolutely free.
Please, comments on the website are most welcome, either in this ng or by
email
