Default Rolling Blackouts

Hello all,
Well, if it hasn't affected you yet, it will. Power grids upon and down
the Midwest are being forced into rolling black outs.

Now, it goes without saying that we as Ham Radio operators are better
prepared than most. However, now is not the time to set back and wait.
For those of us who are prepared for a power outage, check your
equipment now. For those who haven't a back up plan, now is the time to
start planning on what communication needs that you will need.

One area where most people overlook is your vehicle. It can provide,
shelter, heat or cold as the season allows and gives us DC power for our
radios.

If you have a generator, check that it runs and you have plenty of fuel
and remember to NOT run it in your garage as carbon monoxide can quickly
overcome you.

Alternative back up sources are of course batteries, Solar to run and
charge those batteries and small to house size generators.

Plan, Prepare and test your back up. The next black out is just around
the corner.
