I consider myself to be a conservative, and I find the heat wave death toll
in France to be appalling. However, I don't view this tragedy as any
particular human failing; it is, indeed, an act of God. And while I won't
indulge in any attempt to interpret this tragedy, it must be obvious that
mortal men can do things to prevent a recurrence of such an incident. This
does not counteract God's will, it just serves to demonstrate that we've
learned the lesson God intended to reveal to us.

I have a hard time understanding why a "loving God" would perform such an
act that would destroy lives. I don't think these things have anything to do
with God.

I work every day with people who genuinely deserve all the assistance
they can receive from the working public, because they genuinely,
legitimately cannot provide for themselves. However, when I go off
work and am waiting in line at the supermarket, and the lady in front
of me with several young children pays for her groceries with food
stamps, I am not filled with the same compassion I have for my
mentally retarded, physically disabled, and elderly clients. I consider
people who "work the system" just because the system exists to be
engaged in the worst kind of immorality; they are little more than thieves.

I felt the same way the time I drove up to the post office in my un-air
conditioned, manual shift, Volkswagen and two ladies drove up in a nice air
conditioned luxury car that cost many times what my little volks did, with
their $75 braided hair do's. I went in to mail my bill payments, they went
in to buy food stamps..

In virtually every case, they became dependent on society simply
because a system was in place which allowed them to behave in an
irresponsible manner -- with hard-working people like you and me
picking up the tab in perpetuity. I have no sympathy for them, only
abject disgust for their despicable behaviour and the system which
not only supports it, but even "celebrates" it as individual "choice."
Naturally, the children, while they themselves are innocent, are used
as the excuse for keeping the system in place, and therefore ensuring
that it will always keep the cycle of dependency going.

Ditto to this and the rest you posted.
