What you've got is one antenna with two feed points.
Any use of the interaction will result in a directional pattern, making the signal stronger in some directions and weaker (perhaps a great deal weaker) in others. I suspect you don't want that. The best solution would be to open-circuit the unused antenna at its feedpoint. This could be done directly with a relay, by short-circuiting the rig end of a feedline which is an odd number of electrical wavelengths long, or open-circuiting the rig end of a feedline which is an integral number of half wavelengths long. It would be a good idea to make the switch(es) operate from the rigs' power, to prevent accidentally transmitting into a shorted or opened feedline. The two bands are too close to make most other methods impractical. Removeing the CB is not an option, I need it for work. I will be adding the 10 meter whip to a 4door Dodge ram pickup. The two antennas that are on the truck now are mounted with stake hole mounts (the holes in the bed rail behind the driver and passenger) The 11 meter and the 10 meter rigs will not be on at the same time. How would you place the antennas to keep the interaction as low as possible or use the ineraction in some way. Thanks joe |
