Hilarious! I am going to print these out and give them out at the next
Repeater Group meeting. (which I am forced to attend since it is also the
local RACES group meeting :-(

This just occurred to me:

No-coders can never be Silent Keys

Just dead mikes

Listening to the bands these days I have come to the conclusion that
many Keys have indeed become Silent although they are not physically
dead.

And yes, when more code operators die they are just as dead as any
other amateur radio operator who has passed away.

FWIW - when one "presses the mic button to talk" - they are considered to be
"KEYING" the mic. Therefore - anyone who is a ham - be they a "code" key
user OR "key" a mic - would still pass as a "silent "key" "
The code is GONE - there is nothing we can do about its demise - so lets
start PROMOTING decent Radio Skills - beginning with the vanishment of
insulting amongst the ranks first off - and those who "might" be considering
coming into the hobby.

well said indeed althought still maintiain I will an SK only over my
dead body

and Intend for that never to happen even have a plan to carry it out
chinese say "man who finishes house dies" therefore I will never quite
finish my home and live forever

but seriously the attiudes and "proCoders" were one of the biggest
things working in favor of NoCode

Code use is now in the hands it should be in those that suport it .
well on second even I, and I do hate the mode personaly would wish it a
better fate than its supports are likely to contrive but for good or
ill it their problem not mine

but insulting those you are requiting ro seeking to convince was never
a good idea I hope they learn that soon

Yep, geting rid of the insults just might result in more folks joining the
ranks of amateur radio.

Well, it's not that extreme. Is AM gone? (No, it just isn't very popular
among the current crowd.)

Is RTTY gone? (No, it just isn't very popular among the current crowd.)

Is packet gone? (No, it just ... etc, etc, etc)

I'm going to quit now before I get too obvious :-)

In total agreement that radios-r-fun.

I didn't mean CW was "gone" in the sense of no longer able to be used! I
meant only in the "testing" - which has spawned months if not years of
hateful arguments - so it is pointless to remain at odds with others over
it. Sure - CW, AM, RTTY, etc - are still all there to be used and enjoyed by
those with personal preference. And as well - they should be! Use them to
your hearts content!

True, but it was a little wide.

OTOH some power companies run great spark transmitters.

Reports of the death of Morse Code are, of course, premature. This
morning at 7.30am there were plenty of CW transmissions on 40 & 80m.
But there again I am in Europe.
