anntennas athe top of fenceline

I have some nice long fences sectioning of part of my property I am
thinking about runing a dipole but the section interputed by a gate I
am wodering how it would work if I put one end of the dipole on one
side of the gate the other on the other side with 3feet between the 2
feedpoints?
