The reverse energy wave follows the principles of
conservation of energy and superposition. That we
have no clue what the generator looks like to the
reflected energy wave is not a good reason to
abandon those principles. In fact, allowing
destructive interference to be accompanied by
an energy reflection solves all the problems.
