While the spec's are published i wonder if anyone has any first hand
knowledge with the aircom coax

is it betther than say lmr or hardline given like for like overall
from experience??

my guess would be that since it's got alot of hollow space water
damage might be an issue but maybe it has some other fantastic
quality that makes up for it??

Aircom is one of several low loss lines I have used over the years in
amateur satellite operations. Others have included 9913, LMR-400,
Buryflex, etc. They all have worked fine, as long as you install the
connectors properly, avoid sharp bends which can cause the center
conductor to migrate, and do some basic waterproofing.

For instance, the original 9913 had a bad reputation of having water
run out the end. I saw it happen in a digipeater installation.
Recently, I took down some which had been in place for 20 years.
Testing with a Bird, I found that it still met specs, and not a drop
of water.

My current usage is LMR-400 to the rotators and preamps except for
some hardline used on 1268 MHz, LMR-400-Ultrafex from there to the
antennas. If I need to add another line, I will probably use Aircom,
because there is a roll in the barn. I would not buy more, not that
it is bad, but that there are other equivalent options which are less
expensive. One consideration might be UV resistance, which is not a
factor where I live. Of course, the slight difference in attenuation
may be more important as the run gets longer.

One of the more common mistakes in using 9913 is thinking you dont have to
seal the end in the shack.
Thermal pumping(heating and cooling of the coax) will draw a lot of moisture
into it from inside the shack.

so far what i gather is that aside from 1 person nobody has used this
stuff out here in nntp land??

alan thanks for the reply, that you use it, could and you mentioned
it' works fine, but was their any advantage/disadvantage to it vs
it's direct compitition?
