Default Filter?

Oh, most surely, the problem is so simple! chuckle

Krist, all will surely know an am radio will be real responsive to all
interfering signals, EVEN TO GHZ cough!

cough cough The OP stated his problem was static on the 80 meter band, not
interference, and not in GHZ range.
So with those parameters, I suggest the portable AM radio may be quite
effective at detecting noise on the 80 meter band. I'm sure you will agree
with that. You may have misread my post.
But we still love ya!
