Default car antenna cable

In replacing my car antenna I pulled the radio end connector off. It
looks like a small gauge wire, plastic sheathing and braided wire. I
need to replace the end piece or better yet splice it to the new
antenna cable. What type of connector do I need and where can I get
it. This is for a 1999 Subaru Legacy. The replacement antenna said
OEM but of course it was not The new connector at the mast produced a
12 inch cable that has a single bayonet looking plug and the old one
was a round piece the fit over what looked like an rca type plug.
