This one single action, and this article on it,
http://news.cnet.com/8301-1035_3-10082505-94.html, pretty much, puts the final nail in amateur radios coffin. The main reason?; it makes amateur radio seem like a childs toy/play in comparison to the communications which are shortly to lay at each and every citizens finger tips, and secure communications at that. Only the proper funeral for amateur radio lays in the future, and that will, most likely, even be skipped--except for the odd article lamenting its' death ... I think the importance of all this will be missed by a good 99.9999999% of amateurs ... Technology is a double edged sword, but one which forever prods us on a forward path. So, let's get a freq list together and start planning those antennas for our cell phones, hand-helds and laptops! Regards, JS |
