It's a cinch we can't trust the regular media to properly cover this administration because they even overtly promoted it, while at the same time slamming the current administration over the war. The inability of the previous administration to deal with it and the terrorist acts that were a product seem to have been lost in the shuffle. Here the guy who was in the middle of it tries to come clean: http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200401/pollack Then there's the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac impending disaster that was covered up over and over until it finally came home to roost and has goofed up the world economy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hN31-...eature=related And now they are there to clean it all up? Give me a break. Be very afraid when people are promoted for bad behavior and bad judgment. I must differ. I think their reporting documented true failings of bush and govt. BTW censors who have a problem with this discussion can find a different tree. It is well established that these topics are routinely hijacked immediately. But in reality the Subject line of this thread must be a troll for political discussion since universities, the media, business, government are such targets for subversion. Bush's failings, indeed the failings of the Republicans in general have been their dumbfounded reaction to these criminal (or ignorant) acts of democrats. The brazen point was made to regulators in the video above. He was actually complaining that democrats needed more oversight to check their own bad behavior. In reality it is hard to promote freedom and then have to take a firm hand against those who exploit it. It is a big quandary. Big government leads to corruption and domination, not big enough and it gets overrun. Without widespread moral patriotism, freedom is lost. We have lost this to demoralization. Case in point, Nancy Pelosi seem to have in mind that the big three should do what they are told by a dominant government overseer and be immediately profitable to her tastes while they are dis-advantaged in the marketplace by the active redistribution of wealth of the unions. Granted, management shouldn't expect golden parachutes, but the lavish retirements of union employees and high wages are a major drain on a crippled enterprise. It really sounds like a plan to pay off the employees, cover up the problem and throw jobs under the bus. Management will take the blame for the failure and all the employees who are suddenly out of work with big mortgages will hate them as they lose their mansions. I know a few right now. The real answer for all this is immediate and localized accountability at all levels. Bring back bonuses and commissions for productivity and loss for loss. Not the unmanaged situation that exists now where exploitation and failure goes unchecked at all levels, and go crying to someone for money to clean up the wreckage. People need to have expectations of them or they won't succeed. Unrealistic expectations just lead to demoralization and failure. I also believe, their reporting depicted the true hope the "down trodden" wish to place in Obama ... they are just sorely tired of being sick and tired This is like the people out here who get fired by their leftist bosses and are told it's Bush's fault. Maybe if he shouts his indignation at Bush loud and hard enough, the people who smacked him down will take pity and give him his job back. This is like the battered wife hoping she can do better next time, because her husband says he loves her and he will change, although the beatings are worse every time. This is called demoralization. It is a psychological process that conditions peoples reactions so that they are unable to process fact, only react to stimuli. The next step is destabilization. How is it in our best interest to destroy the economy and throw record numbers of people out on the street? If people don't wake pretty quick, you and I both will be taking a bullet in the head, because I am a dissident and you because they won't have a need for you when you finally realize were we are going. This realization must come from Republicans and Democrats because we have been conditioned to extremes. Socialists think we need more intervention, smothering, nationalist health care and free drugs, free housing, loss of freedom and choice so we don't endanger ourselves and our children. Where does teaching them homosexuality and abortion fit in? It certainly facilitates conquest. Capitalists are taught that Greed is good and that it is OK to prey on those around us. This is where Rush Limbaugh does harm. It fans the flames of class envy. The real answer to all this would be a shift in our thinking as voters, legislators, and people at all levels in our government. In the true spirit of patriotism and moderation, a conservatism could emerge that has a healthy skepticism, a realization that no one should be trusted too much with our welfare, and that we should first count all our fingers before shaking hands in business. It is my hope that somehow enough people who are resistant to the current conditioning can transcend the bi-polar thinking of this nation before civil war breaks out. |

It is beginning to look like the need a "Superior Grand Jury." Perhaps a couple of reps from each state which over see the president on down--no matter if the republicrats or the democans are in charge ... But then, in my county, even the sheriff and city police are corrupt! How about "drafting" them too. Each citizen does a tour in the police/sheriff ... Or, in other words, if we can't even keep our own house clean, how are we going to keep the countries? Regards, JS |

Any overseers are subject to the same pressures the causes the ones in place to fail. I've known people that did ride-along only to wind up in prison or loony bins because they were nothing but bullet stoppers/sitting ducks and all the dope people knew about it. Somebody got to 'em. And too often the cops and court system are completely ignorant about WHY a crime scene, and just edit the how and who to what brings them a perceived victory. Even the cops you know have an abbreviated philosophy geared to survival. Although they are OK with you, the ones you don't know, automatically place you in the "subject" class of probable criminals. They are no longer required to support and defend the Constitution or the keep the peace, but to give everybody a bad day at their own discretion. It's just like the Dope War. There is big money in it. Do you think people will let it go so easily? As long as people are stoned and dependent, they will tend to seek that even if is self-destructive. If you want to see what peer pressure can accomplish, google Jim Jones. I still find this 1985 interview to be profound. The Psychology of it is most profound. It shows how gullible we are to suggestion and how easily and cheaply that can be exploited. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x32cxf_yuri-bezmenov I couldn't tell you if they still seek our destruction, but after at least 2 generations of programming it has certainly gone on automatic. This is the problem with utilizing a scorched earth plan. It's like a wildfire. Once you light it, you lose control of it until it burns out. It only cost $2 for a box of matches and $100 million in fire fighting cost and 500 homes destroyed and 20 deaths before it is at least contained. Then 20 more deaths and 50 homes lost to flash floods and mud slides. Indeed if you study Russia's own propaganda, they paint a picture of the US as a crazy first strike threat, in order to feed the military/political priority in their lives as a matter of survival. My only answer to all this is for conservative people (not reactionary) to establish their own media. All that is required is a challenge to unthinking mantras to wake people's thought processes. Just as the doper needs at least 6 months of rehab before the can even have a clear mind, and at least another 6 months of rehab to learn the basic mechanics of using it (or what's left of it). I would hope they lose their driving privilege and voting right for that much time too. It is my thought that the drug problem wasn't conceived by the Russians, but that they easily exploited our own compromise (decadence) and loss of common sense. |
