Is there a sort of G5RV dipole covering all bands from 80 m to 10 m ?
Any good recommendation is welcome. 73 de Claude |

If you are willing to vary the length of the series matching section, a G5RV will indeed cover all HF bands. The necessary lengths are on a graph at the bottom of this web page: http://www.w5dxp.com/G5RV.HTM Someone was supposed to author a magazine article about how to perform the length selection using relays but I never saw it published. -- 73, Cecil, IEEE, OOTC, http://www.w5dxp.com |

In other words, your matching unit with the switchable line segments and with the variable capacitor will do the job. Right ? |

But remember it must be attached to the feedline at a point 12 feet from the antenna feedpoint. That probably limits the device to a relay-driven, waterproof box ~30 feet in the air. It can be done but there may be a better way. With my notuner dipole, the ladder-line length selector can be located at the operating position. With a G5RV, the ladder-line length selector must be located 12 feet from the antenna feedpoint. -- 73, Cecil, IEEE, OOTC, http://www.w5dxp.com |
