: Is the model description you give correct, or have you combined two models, the MFJ949E and the (Deluxe) Versatuner II (MFJ969 IIRC)? The '949E uses a switched coil, and the '969 uses a roller inductor, IMHO a pretty poor roller inductor that uses insulating material that softens when it is hot and makes the tuner prone to serious damage under some poor operating conditions.
