Default AM but no FM on Timex T311 clock radio - Single Wire antenna

Not sure if this is the right group, but here goes.

I have a Timex T311 clock radio. Seems like it used to get FM, but now all I get is a single statiky station across all FM frequencies. Uses a single wire antenna about 20" inches long.

Pulled it apart and the wire is connected to a board. The placement of the wire is hard to see, with a blob of hot glue on the connection.

Is the antenna broken, or something else? Curiosity more than anything.

Thanks in advance for any help!
