Icom 229H help

Does an Icom 229H use an internal battery. If so what happens if the battery
dies.

Well last time I had the radio in use was 1995. Found the problems I was
having was due to having the wrong microphone plugged into it.. Yes it does
have a battery that is still working after all this time. Once I got the
right microphone hooked up I discovered it still had all the local repeaters
programmed in just as I had put it away in'95. Still wary of the battery
though after all this time It could fail anytime now.. I have a scanner
board that uses a Super Capacitor to maintain memory I was wondering a bout
the feasability of replacing the battery with one of these. I cant find my
schematic for the radio so I have no idea what I would have to do to provide
a way of charging the cap.
