I like the 2nd one(discone) slightly better since it will likely fit in my
attic better and I can also use it as a TX antenna later on. I have heard
they perform poorly though.

Looking for a broadband scanner antenna for my attic. Would like
29-900Mhz
receive and TX on 150 & 450Mhz ranges. TX is not that important really.
Any suggestions?
