Nope! I'm not one of those tuner-uppers! I have a non-radiating carbon
resistor immersed in a gallon of oil inside a metal enclosure. I adjust my tuner with a whopping 0.02 watts from an MFJ 259B. Darn INFERNAL Resistance! However it is possible to see the difference caused by bias differences if you have an amplifier. Tune for maximum output. Then reduce drive by 50%. You have to readjust the amplifier for maximum output. [ Example there is a difference in tuning between 500 watts and 1000 watts output. ] DD, W1MCE + + + Richard Clark wrote: On Fri, 22 Aug 2003 14:02:35 GMT, Dave Shrader wrote: A single number does not exist!! An average value for my voice characteristics will be different from an average value with your voice characteristics, etc. Hi Dave, Are you one of those who whistles, hums, and recites the Gettysburg Address into the mike while tuning up? Many on the band would offer you as an example of Infernal Resistance. ;-) 73's Richard Clark, KB7QHC |
