I agree. Proximity is the dominant factor at work here. That's why
these scare stories about mobile phone masts and cancer are such
total nonsense.
There may well be some significant risk associated with the
conventional use of mobiles right next to the head, though. The EM
field is bound to invade brain tissue and the effects of such exposure
to even low levels of near-microwave frequencies are as yet not fully
known.
