I'm not sure what you mean here.

I made sure that the end-to-end length of
each 1/4 wavelength section was the same
size for each section of the dipole. We
use aluminum tubing and hoseclamps for
adjusting the length.

But when i adjusted the space between
the two sections, the length of each
section was NOT changed.

And yet the SWR improved, and
there was a single resonance between
88-108 Megs, as it should normally be.
