A fair bit of the trouble with the traps from cushcraft is the termination
of the end of the coil/trap ally wire i have seen 4 different model trap
that were not secured in the termination and then started arching and
barking.

Hello...

I'm new to this newsgroup, so forgive me if this subject has been beaten

to
death in the past.

I'm in need of a replacement CT-3 20/30m trap for my Cushcraft R7000
vertical as a result of a burn-out. Cushcraft says they can't help me
because my version is 1996.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks & 73,

Dave AA1VX

Thanks for the reply.

This one certainly did some arcing....all burnt around the bottom of the
trap. I opened the trap as Z.Z. suggested. The wiring was intact, and the
nylon core had some melting around it, but I didn't see any damage to the
inner aluminum tube. I cleaned out the burnt stuff and cleaned up things.
Maybe I'll try it out again after I move and can reassemble the antenna.

I would feel much better if I could get a replacement trap, however.

Thanks again, all.

Good Dave you may be lucky, doesn't take much of a Carbon track for RF to
seekout,
