Default the antennas is formed by the tree itself

I was going to ask if it would be OK to perch my 2 meter vertical
antenna in the branches of a tree, or will nearby limbs detract from
the signal, but I see http://www.preservedpalm.net/gsm.shtml "The
product used in Palm antennas is formed by the tree itself and the
fronds", but perhaps that only applies at those higher frequencies.

Not the way I read it.

It appears to be nothing but a clever camoflage of the actual GSM
antenna. The preserved tree and fronds just happen to make an adequate
support system and do not significatnly degrade the actual GSM
antennas while hiding them from view.

However, if they can do it, you should be able to as well.

The more water in the fronds and limbs the more energy that will be
dissipated as heat instead of radiating to the intended target.
