They couldn't just mail him a summons? It doesn't take six
policemen to tell him he is required to appear in court!


1) Mail is usually not good enough notice to appear in court. Such
are delivered in person.

2) He almost certainly has a previous negative history of some sort.

He almost certainly has a previous negative history of some sort.

Perhaps somebody who doesn't like him has untruthfully told the secret
police he has some form of associations with an unknown terrorist
organisation. If he should disappear from circulation, under the new Laws,
nobody will ever know, not even he, what has happened to him.

But of course, it couldn't happen in this fine country of ours - Merrie
England!

Reg proves his own point. Should there be a way to "disappear" unsavory
Brits, Reg would have been gone long ago!
