Hi All Hams
I picked up a TA-33 beam over the weekend. I see only one set of traps for the tribander, Could someone tell how they get the thing to work with just one set of traps? I guess I expected a set of traps for 15 and 10. de KJ4UO |

That's it. Dual frequency traps. Don't recall the exact theory, but that's the way TA-33's have always been made.

I am taking down a TA-33 for a friend and it has traps for each
element. Just a thought. Steve "gb" wrote in message ... wrote in message oups.com... Hi All Hams I picked up a TA-33 beam over the weekend. you could read the manual and look at schematic of the antenna and it is
very clear how it works. also if i remember correctly they had similar questions on your ham radio test. i guess if the fcc relaxes requirements any more the question would be, "i just bought a new transceiver, how do i turn it on? john wrote in message oups.com... The OP didn't stipulate that he had a manual or "schematic", so your flippant suggestion is without merit. wrote in message roups.com... Hi All Hams I picked up a TA-33 beam over the weekend. I guess that you are concerned because there is only "one" trap pair per element. I believe that in the Mosley antenna both the 10 and 15 traps are in the same housing. There is no requirement that there be an external piece of tubing between the traps. |

I am amazed that you could pass the Amateur exams. The answer you gave to a technical question was, read the TA-33 manual, and go back and study the License Manual, both good advice. The way you wrote the advice makes one wonder if you know what you are talking about.\ Gary N4AST |

Ten meters the traps act as decoupling. The fifteen and twenty windings are internal, with the outside aluminum can forming the capacitator. In other words a total of six traps for the three element tri-bander. Hope that helps, considering all the smart arsed comments it should. Dan/W4NTI |
