Just thought I would plumb the vast experience of you all before I lug this
bad boy on either my 20 ft garage or on the 35 foot roof of my house. I am torn between setting this up as a ground mount with the usual ground radial system or to set it up as a roof mount with the Butternut stub-tuned radial kit. If the radial kit gives good performance it might be worth it to try to deal with the roof mount as I do get the antenna up over the trees with this configuration. Anyone had any luck with this set up? Thanks, ME KB0DER |

I ground mounted my Butternut about a dozen feet from my operating position and that resulted in some difficulty with RF in the shack messing with my computer. So whatever location gets the antenna farthest away from the operating position is the one I would recommend. Chuck W6PKP |

What does Butternut say about adding real radials? Tam/WB2TT |

Great SWR, and gave me good results on both transmit and receive. Used a trapped vertical - 5-BTV I think it was - on top of a five story apartment building with no radials at all, and it was dynamite! Why not put it on the roof, tune it, try it out, then add the radials if you find/feel you need them? 73 Dave N0HNJ |

I had a Roof Mounted HF6V for almost 15 years. I used 2 radials per
band on the roof and it worked peach. It got ruined in transit and been looking to replace it. But I bought mine New for 106.00 and now look at the price. Used ones run more than what I paid new ![]() find it hard to get one now HI HI. |
