20+db...not 12! 20db=100:1 power ratio....

For skip, either vertical or horizontal will do.


Sometimes....depends on the conditions

I can't put up a Yagi, so I use a Cushcraft AR-6 Ringo, 1/2 wave vertical
Your results may vary.


Nowadays, a PAR or KB6KQ is best.....when the band is not open, you want to
use horizontal pol for best "local" coverage...out to 200+ miles or so
