Hi,
Does anyone know of any software I can install with windows XP that if I were to input a "point of origin" NGR and a receiving station NGR would give the range in Km and bearing wrt to magnetic north. UK ONLY Cheers, Mike |

UK ONLY Cheers, Mike Hi, Mike, As Joe recommends get a copy of W6ELProp if you have even the slightest interest in HF propagation. W6ELProp does not do magnetic bearings that I can tell. As far as I know the only program that does magnetic bearings is my freeware, lat/long/grid-locator, distance and bearing (true and magnetic), Miles/Watt, MaxiMUF, DX database... program GCGC which uses an ellipsoidal earth model with WGS-84 as the default. Just give it Lat1/Long1 and Lat2/Long2 (nearly free format), or with less accuracy due to the nature of grid locators, grid1 instead of lat1/long1, and/or grid2 instead of lat2/long2 See the link below. The offset from true to magnetic (compass) bearings uses the World Magnetic Model which calculates the local horizontal magnetic field direction within a degree or less (local magnetic anomalies excepted). For Windows XP, use GCGC in a DOS window that is opened by running "cmd.exe.) "NGR" = ??
