Has anyone here ever seen a B&W 5100S transmitter? I owned a 5100B
with the B&W SSB adapter back in the early 70s but never came across a
5100S. I am thinking that it might have been a prototype of the later
B&W 6100 transmitter.

Anyone have any info?

George, I may have answered the same question on another venue (post
from you?) but I believe the 5100S was a late 5100, factory wired to
accept the 51SB sideband adaptor. That's my recollection.

Thanks for the response.

I saw a post on QRZ.com concerning a 5100S and was trying to find some
info on it. I seem to remember that there was a direct conncetion to
the 5100B for the B&W SSB adapter. This was 34 years ago and my memory
might be a bit fuzzy. If the 5100B did not come with
a direct plug in for the SSB adapter It might have been a mod that was
put in before I got the pair.
I do not remember doing any wiring to couple the ssb adapter.

Your theory sounds reasonable.

I believe the 5100 s is real because I have one in my garage right now. I'm looking to sell it to a collector in Houston Tx, but who knows what will happen. The "S" mark is off the the far right of the model number. The power for the 51SB runs off the 5100. I'm beginning to think I need to recover the original blue/green wood crate it was found in. It appears to be used, but the crate had never been opened before. I honestly don't understand how that works together.
