Default KAAR trnsmitter

Thanks to a couple of friends, this little KAAR transmitter followed
me home
today. I seems to have been used by the US Coast Guard. The KAAR
brand
vibrator is dated 1943. It's has an original KAAR crystal for 2670 kc.

Here's a page with some photos of it;

Have you ever seen or know anything about this neat little xmitter?
It has it's original shock mount base, but it appears to have had at
one
time a cover. There are shadows on the sides of the chassis where a
cover
was and there are the remains to latches on the ends of the chassis.

Looks very typical of the design used for the early "doghouse"
FM transmitters made by Motrola and others. That crystal is in
the old marine radiotelephone range, isn't it?

50"s. the kaar cb, with replaceable colored panels were circa 60 plus a
little. 2670 was channel 27A if my memory serves me correctly. I serviced
marine radios and radar on large and small vessels.in the Michigan area from
the soo to Toledo Ohio

I've added some new information to the KAAR transmitter page,

I'd suspect that should have been an AM transmitter. Any ideas
on how they modulated it?

I suspect it's grid modulated since there's no big modulation
transformer.
