Default Antenna Rotor Control Burnt Up

George -
I can email you the service manual for your rotor - if you will provide a
legit email address.

I have a Alliance Tenna Rotor. I got the rotor off a building that
was being demolished, and the control from a rummage sale. So, I dont
know if they were mated for each other. However, the control has lots
of sloppy solder joints and was missing the pin to secure the
direction push bar (on top). When I hooked it up, there is a
wirewound pot inside, and it went up in smoke after a few minutes.
When I turn it all the way to the end of the resistor wire, (right to
the stop), the rotor still turns, but I have no idea what direction it
is, because the front direction dial does not work. The control is an
old bakelite unit (quite old) and is a model T12. The whole thing is
pretty simple, so I am sure I can fix it, if I can get parts
(doubtful). Anyhow, does anyone have a schematic for the control?

Also, a distant friend has a Radio Shack control that he said he would
mail to me if I pay shipping. He said he used to use it at his old
house, bur left the rotor when he moved. The only problem is that his
has FIVE wires, and mine only has FOUR. I dont know if I could figure
out how to wire it, and what the 5th wire terminal is for. Does
anyone know if these can be modified to work?

Well, at least I got a working rotor now, even if I have to keep going
outside to see what direction it is pointing. This is a rural farm,
and I can only get one station without the rotor. Now, I have gotten
3 stations so far, with the rotor.

Appreciate any help to fix this control, or connect the Radio Shack
one. ANy advice on what each wire does would be helpful too. I
followed the numbers, matching #1 on the control to #1 on the rotor,
etc. I know there is a low voltage going up there, but that is only 2
wires. What are the other two for?

George
