By the way, has anyone ever figured out why they call it "HAM"? Is it
because the old tube radios were hot enough to cook a ham on top of them? That's as good a reason as I've heard. Better than most. I say we take it up as "official history.".... IMHO, "HAM" stands for "Hardly Any Money"! --Myron. -- Five boxes preserve our freedoms: soap, ballot, witness, jury, and cartridge PhD EE (retired). "Barbershop" tenor. CDL(PTX). W0PBV. The ARRL says that it probably was a derogatory term that commercial ops used for the "ham fisted" amateur radio operators in the spark days. FWIW. YMMV. Bill |
