I have some 1/4" tapes I'd like to transfer from an old Uher 4000 Report recorder to CD. I would suggest using another machine for playback. The Uher 4000 (The Report-L anyway, though not the Monitor) was much better at recording than playback. Problem is that the "Radio/Phono" connection is a 5-pin din and I'm not sure which pins (if any) will give me a line-out to feed to a soundcard line in. There is also a 2-pin "Speaker/Earphone" out, and a mystery 6 pin din out marked with a triangle (power?). You can get an adaptor cable to take the 5-pin DIN to four RCA connectors (two of which will be unused since it's a mono machine) from Radio Shack. It's a standard item although you'll probably have to special order it. I suggest doing this. The 6 pin DIN has power as well as inputs and outputs, and is intended to slave the Uher to a home stereo system with one cable. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. C'est suisse, et tres, tres precis." |
