What about the RME-9 and the RME-70??

It's an RCA. I don't know which of the RCAs it is, but it's an RCA.

Bob, yes there is a shutter mechanism. The center knob runs it up and
down to show the band in use.

I's definitely not an RME. I have an RME 69 and an RME 70.It's an RCA
AR-77 or AR-88

I finally rescued a radio I had in High School. It was a gift from some

attic so I assume some work will have to be done before firing it up.
I've followed the discussions on recapping and such so no need to warn
me about that. This will be my first project so I'm not holding myself
out as any expert. It looks a little like some model of RME but I've
not found any pictures online.

Anyway, does anyone recognize it?

I think "Fred" would be a good name for the radio in question.

Note: as others have commented, it looks like an AR-77 to me.

I have one! It is for sure the AR-77
