Default Info: Yaesu FT-901

Info: Yaesu FT-901
I have a FT-901 DE
I just got and it receives very low and it doesnt transmit.
Someoneone told me in order for it to transmit I need the plug
in accessory to plug in the back of radio and then receive and
transmit would work.
Of course I don't have the plug for it.
Is this true???
Any help would be great.
