I revisited the model 4 a few years back. Someone tossed one at a hamfest

They knew from the beginning that you had to sell new software all the time.
Unfortunately it died some weeks later.

So fix it. 90% of the problems on those things have to do with bad capacitors
and connectors, and they are very easy to work on. Not a lot of actual
interconnects either. Shotgunning electrolytics may well fix it right up.

I'm seeing quite a few of the old Radio Shack electronic kits at flea
markets and swap meets this year and, surprisingly, going very cheap.

The local Radio Shack "Computer Center" dedicated store back in the mid 80s
was nothing like this. The staff was snotty and arrogant. They didn't assist
with making a purchase... you either bought quickly and expensively or out
you went. Since they were the only game in town and had most TRS-80 items in
stock unlike the regular stores, you just had to live with it.

I learned computers thanks to Robin. The store manager at the local RS at
the mall. She let me come in every day after school and do whatever I
wanted on a model 3 or model 4 computer.
