Default help ID an old carbon microphone

....see photos at: www.nyx.net/~wboas/mic.html

Only mark on this is the number `28' on the back,
and inside, on the cord `Kellogg S.& S. Co No. 56363 Cord'

Any ideas on its era, equipment, etc...appreciated.

I have one of those also. I am guessing that it is a low cost "toy"
microphone from the
1930's or 40'z. I seem to remember ads for that kind of equipment from
those days.
It's too "cheap" to a military mic.

I have one here. It's (I'm told) the microphone for a Victor RE57
combination
radio/phonograph/recorder, dating from 1930-31. My RE57 is a TRF radio
with capability (as implied) to play 78s and record on blank disks. I got
my mic on the 'bay for this radio.
You may find a market for these often-missing mics on
rec.antiques.radio+phono.
Cheers
Nelson

It's made by Kellogg Switchboard company in Chicago. They made telephone
equipment of various grades, most of it pretty crappy. Probably this was
intended for some telephone system, possibly an operator's set.

The guys at Phoneco in Wisconsin may have the rest of the set if you want to
complete it.
