Default Why does AM reception vary so much from car to car?

I have an old Explorer and get better AM reception than in a new Lexus.

New AM radios just aren't as good. And all the electronic equipment in
newer cars (and those around you) doesn't help the interference problem
either.

Just as an experiment try to listen to the AM in your Lexus with the motor
off and see if the interference clears.
