WBZX Debuts Real Identity As Classic Hits B103.9

https://radioinsight.com/blog/headli...to-big-rapids/

Up North Radio closed on its acquisition of 103.9 WBZX Big Rapids MI and
debuted Classic Hits B103.9 on Saturday, August 27 in place of the
Beautiful Music stunt it had launched with.

The new format is positioned as 80s More to represent its focus on hits of
that decade. The launch sequence included the sequence utilized by many
Jacor/Clear Channel CHRs in the late 1990s and early 2000s as a nod to
owner Dom Theodores time in the company during that period.

Original Report 8/24: Max Henry Associates has signed on Beautiful 104
103.9 WBZX Big Rapids MI.

The new station debuted at 12:30 this afternoon promoting Beautiful Music
for Big Rapids. The station is in the process of being sold to Up North
Radio for $21,000 but the Construction Permit was set to expire on
Saturday, August 27 requiring the station to launch prior to the closing of
the sale. A website and stream are forthcoming.

Upon consummation of the sale it will join Up North Radios Hot AC 107.9
WCDY McBain/Cadillac. They are also in the process of acquiring Classic
Rock 107.1 WCKC Cadillac.

https://radioinsight.com/blog/headli...-flip-to-jack/

While Townsquare Medias 104.9 KQCS Dewitt IA/Quad Cities is currently
stunting in preparation of a format change, Regional Medias Classic Hits
Rewind 93.9 WYEC Cambridge IL has announced a flip of its own.

WYEC will flip to Variety Hits 93.9 Jack-FM on Thursday, September 1 with
new KQCJ call letters in place. The flip to Jack will leave the Quad Cities
market without a Classic Hits station pending whatever happens at KQCS.

Regional Media will switch its signal in the Quad City market to bring the
highly popular “JACK” radio format beginning on September 1, 2016.

WYEC, which will become KQCJ, at 93.9 on the FM dial, serves Peoria to
Eldridge with its majority listenership in the Quad Cities region has been
planning a major change for months!

JACK FM is the most successful radio programming approach in North America.
It offers upbeat and unconventional “Playing What We Want” branding. The
JACK FM Adult Hits format presents an energizing presentation of hit songs
from the late 1960s through the 2000s that has attracted a significant
following, reaching more than 20 million listeners weekly.

”Regional Media is excited to launch the highly successful JACK format in
the Quad Cities,” commented President and CEO Fletcher M. Ford “Our
signal, at 93.9, will carry the distinctive sound of JACK FM to the entire
Quad Cities and surrounding regions, and the unique playlist and music mix
is perfectly suited to our midwest lifestyle. Both listeners and
advertisers will love the new JACK FM at 93.9 on the FM dial.”

The new Jack FM will continue in Regional Medias legacy of dedication to
local high schools programming, local and national news, and local
interviews.

“We are just simply JACKED to the max, to launch the new JACK FM format on
93.9. The music and the energy that it brings to the table will literally
change the Quad Cities!”, said Jason Gilbraith, Sr. Vice President of Sales
and Marketing at Regional Media.

“The JACK FM format is unlike anything in the Quad Cities market,” said
Regional Media Operations Manager Sean Patrick. “I am very excited to be
part of bringing JACK FM to the Quad Cities because I know people will love
it.”

Regional Media-Virden Broadcasting is an Iowa based locally owned company

104.9 The Hawk Quad Cities Talking About A Change

Posted: 29 Aug 2016 05:06 PM PDT
https://radioinsight.com/blog/headli...bout-a-change/

Stunting is underway at Townsquare Media Country 104.9 The Hawk KQCS
Dewitt/Quad Cities IA.

The station is running a loop of songs with Talk in the title and promoting
a new format to debut Wednesday, August 31 at 12:00pm.

104.9 The Hawk debuted in July 2014 to go up against iHeartMedias market
leading 103.7 WLLR. The station failed to make any inroads as it registered
a 2.0 share in the Spring 2016 Nielsen Audio ratings to WLLRs 18.1 share. A
flip to Talk would put the station up against iHearts 1420 WOC. That
station registered a 5.4 share in the Spring ratings.
