I saw that xm is coming out with a portable walkman-type radio.
Anyone know about this? I'm wondering if you can get reception
indoors or will the antenna only pull a signal when your outside?

yesh... i'm sure Sirius will be coming out with one of these in the near
future too.
Satellite radio is very competive.
Apple should intergrage an XM or Sirius receiver into the next iPod. Now

This sort of thing is long overdue, but they are charging $350 for it. I
would have preferred they drop the recording feature and lower the price by
half. The thought of taking XM anywhere I go is wonderful, but the price
needs to be more in line with the other XM devices. - by akula

Yes! Finally satellite radio is portable...its about time. Anyway, I
dfinately agree this first generation radio is way to expensive, but as with
all new technology, it does eventually drop in price. Hopefully this will

I can see XM offering this for half price (after rebate) if you sign up for
a two+ year contract. This would be similar to the satellite TV model
started in the 90's and the cell phone model being used today. Give away the

satellite tv receivers. Of course since it took all this time to make a
portable satellite walkman type radio, we could be waiting a year of two. -

I hope they have a liberal return policy. At this price it should work
everywhere and sound great. I work with loud machinery and wear FM
headset/hearing protectors. If I can broadcast an FM signal to the headsets

MyFi is unqiue because it has the first built-in XM antenna. It also has a

earbuds. The device is made to be used while walking or running, which is a
first for satellite radio. You're probably wondering what good the satellite

Depends on the stucture and where you're located. I have XM's indoors
that work great with no access to windows.

However, the MyFi has 5 hours of recording and TIVO-like functionality
built in -- so you can record up to 5 hrs of programming for use
indoors if you're where there is no signal. Indoor reception won't be
as good as ooutdoor. The unit has a built-in antenna, but a clip-on
external antenna when needed.

On my encouragement a co-worker bought a Roady2. It worked fine in his
car. He then bought a 12V wall-wart and tried it in his apartment in
downtown DC. It works fine - in fact conventional AM/FM are very poor
in his apartment.

XM has quite a few repeaters around DC and that helps. The building where
we work in the suburbs is solid concrete with metal interior walls. Even
in my north-facing office XM works fine - doubtless due to a repeater.

XM has enough repeaters in the DC area that I can hear them in every
mall's multistory parking garage I've tried.
