NPR Station Hosting Podcast Festival

The Charlotte Podcast Festival is the city's first podcast festival and
it's designed to "inform, enrich and inspire the next generation of audio
storytellers and podcasters." The October 5-30 free event will be held
virtually. It's being produced by NPR member station WFAE.

HBO's Craig Carton documentary will air October 7 at 8PM. A two-minute
trailer has been released to promote the show that details the disgraced
former WFAN morning show co-hosts gambling problem and the ponzi scheme

Mental Health Focus Of Special

The fourth annual I’m Listening, a live national program that brings
together artists, athletes and medical specialists to raise awareness and
end the stigma of talking about mental health is set for later this month.
The two-hour special will air nationwide on Wednesday, September 23.

LABF Scholarship Available

The Library of American Broadcasting Foundation, in collaboration Broadcast
Education Association, is offering a scholarship for a graduate student.
The $3,000 scholarship will be given to support the student's continuing
studies and dissertation in broadcast history.

Popular Public Station Hit Hard By Virus

Santa Monica public station KCRW-FM is eliminating 28 jobs due to the
COVID-19 pandemic. The station is expecting a 30% reduction in its
operating budget due to a big drop in corporate sponsorships.

Two days after Minnesota Public Radio’s Marianne Combs quit her 23-year
job, after accusing management of covering for a DJ at sister station The
Current, that DJ Eric Malmberg was fired.
