Free broadcasting training courses

31 January 2005

Forest of Dean Radio is offering free broadcasting training courses across
the area. A six-week beginner's course in radio skills starts on Tuesday
from 1 to 3pm at the Cinderford studio.

The same course starts at the Newent studio on Wednesday, May 4, from 7 to
9pm.

It will show people who are interested in being a presenter, producer or
technician how to plan a programme, use recording equipment and broadcast
live across the Forest.

An advanced one-day course in radio skills will teach how to edit
effectively, brush up presenting skills, make a better promo and improve
production and research.

The advanced course will be held in Coleford tomorrow, in Lydney/Sedbury on
Saturday, February 26, Newent on Saturday, March 26, and Cinderford on
Saturday, June 11, from 10am to 3pm.

Another course, called Cool Edit, will teach how to edit and manipulate
sound on computer, using professional software at Lydney/Sedbury on
Saturday, April 23, from 10am to 1pm and Newent on Saturday, May 21, at the
same time.

For those interested in writing for the radio, there are three-week
beginners' courses at Coleford and at another venue yet to be confirmed.

A one day advanced level writing for radio will show how to turn scripts
into a broadcast at Coleford on Saturday, March 19, and at another venue on
Saturday, May 7.

To book a place on any of the courses contact the Forest of Dean Radio on
