Dublin - Irish Music Radio
Irish Music Radio, formerly Radio Dublin, will return to the capital's
airwaves later this year. The station's management team sought, and has been granted, a second thirty day Temporary Broadcasting Contract from the BCI. Live programmes will commence at twelve midnight on Friday 17th of June and the station will be on air each weekend up to and including the weekend of September 24th. Speaking shortly after confirmation of the licence the Chairman of Irish Music Radio Damien Farrell said: "This is a very important step for the station. The awarding of a second temporary licence indicates to us that the Commission is interested in what the station has to offer to the present Dublin radio market". Managing director Joe Doyle also commented on the awarding of a second licence: "Following the announcement by the BCI today I feel very confident about the future. I believe that the Commission now realises that stations such as Irish Music Radio and Premier FM have a place in the market and I welcome the Commission's announcement today that they plan to introduce new stations in Dublin over the next three years." Joe continued: "This second licence is to us a vindication of our decision to seek legal status and to enter into temporary contracts with the BCI." Irish Music Radio will transmit on 94.9MHz FM from Three Rock Mountain and programming will come from studios in Clondalkin, south-west Dublin. http://www.radiowaves.fm/news/index.shtml |
