Default Double Cash KGB

Back in 1969, when I was first getting into radio, I heard an aircheck
from KGB San Diego. It was put together (I believe) as an entry for
the "Gavin Station of the Year."

I listened to it so many times, I can still recite it... all the way up
to Bobby Ocean giving away the big prize, over $8,000 cash, to a woman
who answered her phone, "I listen to double cash KGB" and whose husband
had just taken a large pay cut to go into teaching. She was the
perfect contest winner.

This was one incredible radio station - especially to me, working in
Fall River, MA at the time.

I'm looking for someone who might have a copy today or knows of a copy
online. I have no idea where mine went.

Did you work at KRUX in Phx in about '74?

Have you tried Ed Brouder's www.manfrommars.com site? He has several KGB
airchecks including some from 1969 or thereabouts.

Thanks Lee.

I have found one from 1969 which could be the aircheck. I just wrote
to Ed to ask for some specifics.

Good God! I have been in the business for 35 years and of all the
stations I've ever worked at NO ONE has ever asked about KRUX! This
was a station so poorly listened to, we couldn't give away tickets in
contests.

Yes. But I thought I'd bought off everyone who knew.
