Default The Spirit Of KFAT-Gilroy Is Alive And Well..!

Hello...

My Name is Long John, I have not been here for quite some time.

I'm keeping the spirit of the late KFAT-Gilroy alive and well
with my TUBBY TUNES Radio Show...on KMUD-fm...(no longer on KZYX or
KRCB)

I'm a gonzo radio guy, music guy, television guy, a/v production guy...

I'm one of those rarest of Californians: A genuione native...to steal
a quote from Willie Nelson = "I didn't COME here, and I ain't LEAVING"

If you Google "Highwaymen Email List Web Site" you'll find more info
and a greeting from Willie Nelson.

I'm a mountain man with Dishnet living off the pavement in northern
Mendocino County (the part that gets snow in winter)...very rugged,
yet with access to satellite TV, 2m ham, broadcast fm...and by golly,
I just got a land line installed to my property after a 6 year period
of jonesing for dialtone...cell phone service out here is variable with

mostly basic analog voice; not at all like what city folks have
available.
I have both grid power and solar power...

We do however have a shared T1 line at KMUD I can plug into for major
stuff...

I'm into collecting and broadcasting strange music: novelty songs (NOT
punk rock)
goofy, campy, funny odd ball type of tunes.

My usual mix includes Rock, Country, Folk, Comedy, Parodies, Swing,
Blues,
Western, Rockabilly, Zydeco, etc...it's a "progressive format" that
draws on the
past mojo of KMPX, KSAN, KFAT, KVRE, KTIM...these stations were very
instrumental
in the formation of what radio is today...

I started out as a school DJ in the S.F. Bay Area about 1959-1960 or
so...
so I have alot of tunes I can draw on when inspired

I still do old fashioned local radio where I play what I want (my
audience
*usually* approves)..!

I NEED YOUR HELP FOLKS:

Have you ever spend YEARS trying to chase down a particular cut..?

A great song called "SILVER AND GOLD" done in a zydeco style was played
on KFAT

I recently found a version of the same song by Johnny Strummer (The
Clash), but
this zydeco-ish version still eludes me (and my audience)

And for all the other truely GONZO DJ's out there, lets make contact to
help the cause...

I welcome folks to tune in WW.KMUD.ORG on Mondays 1o PM to 3o PM
PACIFIC time zone.

It's either myself, or my radio partner Weird Harold...either way we
hope you enjoy it..!

My Contact Info:
