Default Minneapolis - WWTC 1280 Golden Rock Question

I'm looking for a particular song, played weekly on the old Golden Rock
WWTC 1280. It's a real needle-in-the-haystack sort of a thing.

Back in the early 80's, I would guess around 1980-81 specifically, my
Dad would always tune into WWTC 1280 during the afternoon hours on the
weekends, and it seemed like every weekend we'd hear the same songs. I
remember hearing "Black is Black", "Secret Agent Man", and
unfortunately, "Eve of Distruction", which always sent me out of the
room covering my ears, because it made me sad. (I was a sensitive 8
year old kid.) But there was one particular song that was always being
played, and I LOVED it, but I didn't know what it was? I'm not sure if
I couldn't understand the lyrics? I used to call it "The song that
rumbled the house" because the man singing the song had a very deep
voice.

Unfortunately, I still have no idea of what the lyrics are for the
song, and don't know who sang it. I do know that it must be a rare
song, because I haven't heard it for the last 25 years, and I've always
been looking for it.

This is what I know:
Male singer or group
Strikes me as a song that would be from the 1964-66 era.
Sounds a LOT like these songs:
"California Sun", by the Rivieras. (Sounds a LOT like this song! VERY
similar.)
"Lets Dance", Chris Montez
"Under the Boardwalk", Drifters
"I want Candy", original version, not Bow Wow Wow.
"Got a line on you", Spirit (chorus)
Sounds very much like beach type music.
Sounds driving and raw, like a garage band.
Very fast paced song, with a bit of an eerie overtone.
Very deep bass and singer has a deep voice, possibly hard to understand
lyrics?
Played every weekend on WWTC in the early 80's, in the afternoon hours.
Never played on KOOL 108 or any other oldies related stations.

I apologize for not giving a lot to go by. This is about all I know.
I've looked for the song for a good 20+ years now with no luck. My
folks, who heard the song weekly, have no idea either. I think its
something rare. Maybe a favorite of the DJ at the time? (Does anyone
know who the afternoon weekend DJ was back in the years 1979-1981?) If
anyone used to listen to WWTC in the early 80's and might know what I'm
talking about, please let me know.

Many thanks!
Tina
