Out of curiosity, anyone know how the Microphone of the Radio Shack CB's that have the up and down channel built into the Microphone? How they what? I've got 2 CB's that support this feature, What do they "support"? Up / down scanning, or do they actually allow it from the microphone? Not all radios which use up and down buttons on the radio may have the connections available for the microphone. and I'm a little curious on how its setup and wondering how hard it'd be to take a better mic and add the up/down features into it.... If the radio has the connections on the microphone socket and the new microphone has the buttons, you simply wire the new microphone correctly for that radio. If the radios do not have the connections, you will have to trace them on the PCB and make connections. If the microphone socket has not enough pins, you will need to change it. If you do this, try to make the wiring like a standard radio with scan on the microphone... so it's easy to remember or look up the wiring. Really and truely, the up/down feature isn't something I have to have, and there's times it gets in the way.... What are the radios? There is a microphone wiring database on my site (below). If your radios allow scanning from the microphone, the data should be there. Be very careful. Some radios that have scanning from the microphones MUST be wired correctly first time. Mistakes can pop the PLL, which can be expensive. Regards, Peter. http://www.citizensband.radiouk.com/ |
